An AODD pump is a positive displacement pump that uses compressed air as its power source. It employs two flexible diaphragms mounted on a common shaft, which move back and forth to create a pumping cycle. This cyclic action is what enables its signature versatility.

Positive Displacement Principle: AODD pumps are reciprocating positive displacement pumps. They use two flexible diaphragms, mounted on a common shaft, to move fluid by alternately increasing and decreasing the volume of pumping chambers.

Pneumatic Power: Unlike centrifugal pumps, AODD pumps require no electricity at the pump head, making them intrinsically safe and ideal for ATEX (explosive) environments.

Operating Cycle: Compressed air enters the air distribution system, forcing one diaphragm to discharge while the other creates a vacuum (suction) on the opposite side. This cycle repeats, ensuring continuous flow.

Self-Priming: Can pull fluid from below the pump level (up to 8m/26ft), reducing setup complexity.

Dry-Run Resilience: Unlike many other pump types, an AODD can run dry indefinitely without damaging internal components.

Dead-Head Tolerance: Because the pump is powered by air, if the discharge valve closes (backpressure equals air supply pressure), the pump simply stops moving, preventing motor burnout or pipe bursts.

Shear Sensitivity: The gentle, reciprocating motion minimizes stress on delicate fluids (e.g., polymers, food products), maintaining product integrity.

Chemical Processing: Handling aggressive acids and solvents (using PVDF, PTFE, or Stainless-Steel materials).

Food & Beverage: Using FDA-compliant, sanitary-grade pumps (e.g., stainless steel housings with food-grade diaphragms).

Wastewater Treatment: Handling slurries, sludge, and heavy solids with flap-valve designs.

Mining & Construction: Portable dewatering and transfer of highly abrasive tailings.
